After a great rest in the Blarney Woolen Mill Hotel, we got up early and were standing on the running board over at the Castle when they opened at 9 am. We were first through the gate and up the 100 steps to kiss the Blarney stone at the top of the castle. As you are probably aware, Gemma had kissed the stone many years ago and that is why she is so eloquent (talks a lot) and now that I have also done it, she can't shut me up!! The castle is along the banks of the river Martin and there are many dungeons and caves nearby in the sixty parkland acres.
On the road again, saying goodbye to Ireland as we head out for the 2.5 hour drive for the ferry from Rosslare to Fishguard, Wales. We had a great 2 hour crossing, reading the Sunday papers and magazines and snacking our way on this speedy catamaran ferry - what a life!
After checking into this beautiful B&B we headed out to explore this small village and happened upon the Castle Pub - surprise, surprise where we chatted with the locals and eventually moved into the restaurant part of the Pub for a quiet, intimate dinner for two of..... you guessed it Fish and Chips. What a great evening, walked back to the B&B at 9:30 pm, sunk into a feather soft kingsized bed and off to the land of nod!! This is a lovely seaside village and we awoke to the sound of seagulls overhead, more on that tomorrow!
