Monday, July 26 - Glasgow, Scotland

Monday, Monday.... it's great - just like a Saturday when you don't have to work!!  Ron drove Mary and I into Glasgow to meet up with Moira and Christine and go for a wee stroll down memory lane and the good times when we all worked together at T.McL.

Had a super lunch (do you get the impression all we do here is eat and drink?) at Moskito's Bar - down a wee set of stairs underneath offices in a very old (is there any other kind) building right in the heart of the City.  It was so great to catch up and fill in the blanks since the last time we were all together.  Ron stepped away from the 'old cronnies' and had a sausage roll in an outside cafe right on Sauchiehall Street and came back to pick us up and pay the bill - what a guy!! 

That morning, Mary had secured us tickets to attend the ROD STEWART concert at 8pm, so we decided to just stay in town - she can work miracles that one!  As the story goes, we had talked about it the night before and  she called the box office that morning and talked to Angela.... so the story goes.....

Hello Angela - Mary speaking.... I'm calling to see if you can work a miracle for me today

Angela - Well that usually God's department but what kind of miracle did you want?

Mary - Well I have these friends here visiting from Canada and they are big RS fans and would love to see him in concert tonight.... any chance you can find 3 wee tickets somewhere, cause I know it's sold out.

Angela - Oh.... I know what it's like, I had some Canadian friends over last month and if I have to visit another Historic Sight or Monument again I'll scream..... 

so on it went and as you can imagine, she managed to find 3 wee tickets for her best friend Mary... that's how Mary works her magic.  We are in awe.... OBE or not.

The concert was brilliant - what a highlight.  After 37 concerts he didn't have a great voice mind you, but lots of energy and a fantastic show - defininitely a highlight of the trip so far.  Was it my imagination or did he sing my favourite song just to me???? He certainly seemed to be looking my way with a little twinkle in his eye!.................
