Stopped for breakfast at the Invergarry Hotel just 15 mins from Fort William - yummy breakfast and what a great hotel. We strolled around the grounds a bit and snapped a few shots "to the manor born" of moi in front of the fireplace there!!
Eileen Donan Castle - what can be said about this place? We first visited it with Mary a few years ago and it's still the Iconic Landmark and truly breathtaking. The place evokes such romance and rugged sensuality...
Skye Bridge - Wow! What a structure - we were inspired to sing "Over the Sea to Skye" and it really was over the sea - the thing is huge (to allow the ships to pass under - of course, but really it just goes right up and over at a huge angle - really a marvel of modern technology)! Plus, there's no support in the middle - amazing:)
Plockton - Now this place (of Hamish MacBeth fame) was disappointing. Although the little village is cute it is truly TT (as Ron said and had me guess what that meant - Tacky Tourist, etc., turns out he meant Tourist Trap) and that is totally what is was. One little street running along the water front with cars parked this way and that and only room for one car at a time, so you are constantly backing up - well to be honest Ron is backing up and I'm covering my eyes in the front suicide seat (as explained earlier). Still, we enjoyed a little stroll around after parking the car, but (thankfully) it started raining just a little but enough for us to stop in at the Ploctkon Hotel for a sheltered refreshment:) Nice. We then bought some fish and chips to eat on the pier before heading out for our destination - Kincraig Castle Hotel in Invergordon.
Kincraig Castle Hotel - Awesome, I think we've died and gone to heaven. The brochure reads 'experience living like a Laird' and its true. Our room is fantastic - and the view is just magnificent with grounds and gardens impeccably maintained and a joy to explore. Had our morning coffee out there and it was lovely. Staff are friendly and the accommodations are 5 star.
Other guests are here for a wedding today (Sat) so lots of family stuff going on, we are missing our own grandkids, so I promptly took out my favourite photo of them all (the one with them sitting on the couch in the livingroom - Mckenzie's christening) and had it proudly displayed on our breakfast table for us to enjoy as we munched away. Missing everyone there, but having such a wonderful time. We are now heading to the house in Cullen for the week, so unsure about internet coverage there. So if you don't hear from us, don't worry and we'll sign on again once we are back 'on line'.
