Friday, 13th Aug 2010 Doolin, Ireland

Via Beleek – which is a little village across the Border in Northern Ireland to spend some of our British Money and mail the post cards…. We are so glad we went there as it is very quaint and definitely off the beaten track. Everyplace seems to be so near that we often take a little side road and find all sorts of treasures.

Arriving at Doolin

Doolin is a great place, although the town is kinda disjointed probably because of the Cliffs of Moher - but we’ve had fun driving around and finding (once again) a great Italian Restaurant that is recommended on Trip Advisor. It was a quirky little place (fantastic food though) where they basically told you what you can and cannot order (reminds us of Peter’s – in a good way). The B&B here is more like a hotel with 15 rooms and very well set up. Eileen the owner reminded me of Aunty Theresa as she continued to run around and was very happy and busy all of the breakfast time. The views from our room are terrific with the Cliffs being right there in our viewpoint. There is a big Visitor’s Centre that we gave a miss, simply because it was packed with vehicles and our views from our room and just driving right up to them were spectacular enough. While shopping in the local homemade chocolate shop in Doolin we happened upon two Americans on their honeymoon… then ended up spending the evening with them. The pub had traditional Irish Music playing and the place was mobbed. I’ve forgotten how many people there are here… most of them tourists like us mind you, I guess Ireland are doing a fine job of Advertising the Emerald Isle. Happy, happy times.
